In Myanmar, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) has been helping to implement the Livelihoods and Food Security Trust Fund (LIFT) which was established to improve the lives and prospects of smallholder farmers and landless people in rural Myanmar.
As part of this programme Unit Export was awarded a contract for the supply of 10 Air Screen Cleaners with Gravity Tables to help rural farmers to clean a range of different seed products. The product selected was sourced from China where companies have great experience in dealing with this sort of seed/rice/grain product.
After manufacturing, the goods were tested and dis-assembled before shipping to Yangon, where Unit Export had made contact with a freight forwarding company that was in a position to re-assemble the units at their warehouse. UNOPS representatives, as well as staff from the Department of Agriculture, then visited the warehouse to perform a final inspection before the equipment was shipped to the final destinations.
The final destinations consisted of 10 separate rural sites throughout Myanmar, so with the help of the freight forwarding company and through coordination with the Department of Agriculture, all units were delivered within the space of 2 weeks.
