The Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) in Malawi received a loan from the African Development Bank for a project to assist in water resource management and revenue collection. As part of this project LWB required a test and calibration facility to ensure their water meters were accurate and reliable, both before and during operation.

Unit Export was awarded the contract to supply LWB with a water meter test bench system for delivery to their Lilongwe Head Office facility.

The specification was detailed and involved a complex design brief meaning a bespoke system had to be designed to fit a very specific room size with split level floors and limited access. Unit Export identified a qualified manufacturer who worked on this brief and with Unit Export put a comprehensive proposal together. This flexible, adaptable approach and hard work secured the order.

The system was built and tested, then calibrated by a specialist agency to verify and confirm its accuracy and performance. It was then carefully dismantled, packed and securely loaded into a container for its journey from Europe to Malawi.

Upon its arrival in Lilongwe a team of 3 engineers travelled from the factory to Malawi and over a period of two weeks installed, tested and commissioned the water meter test bench system in the room and then conducted comprehensive training sessions for the LWB staff.
