Over the course of two separate contracts, Unit Export has recently supplied a set of chemical detection and identification units to a UN funded project within Jordan. The detection units consist of the Sabre 5000 handheld chemical and explosive detection device whilst the identification model is the HazMat ID Elite device.
The equipment will be used as part of an effort with the Jordanian security services to improve security at sensitive border points around Jordan, as a result of the ongoing issues within the region and the mass level of migratiomn across borders that is occuring in a knock-on effect.
The units will be sent to various sites and their handheld nature ensures an ease of mobility, be it with an operator moving about at one checkpoint, or the ability to transport units betwene locations if a greater number are needed at any one time.
The procurement was conducted with the assistance of the manufacturers’ official distributer in-country, who has also conducted training for 10 operators in the use and basic maintenance of each device. The Sabre units were inspected at the factory in the UK before being shipped, whilst the HazMat units originated from the US, where a similar test was conducted.
